Who we are

Tanzania Hiking and Safaris is a tour operator based in Arusha, Tanzania. We are responsible for the personal information described here. If you have any question about it, write to [email protected].

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us:

• Booking and contact forms: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number (optional), the package or destination you are interested in, number of travellers, travel dates and your message.
• Technical details sent with a form: the time it was sent and your IP address, which we use to stop spam and abuse.
• WhatsApp: our chat button only opens WhatsApp with your message filled in. Nothing is sent to us until you press send in WhatsApp, and that conversation is handled by WhatsApp (Meta) under its own privacy policy.
• Email and phone: if you write or call, we keep that correspondence so we can answer you and plan your trip.

If you go on to book, we will ask for further details needed to run the trip (for example passport details for park and hotel bookings, dietary needs or medical information relevant to a climb). We ask for these directly, not through this website.

How we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quotation or itinerary.
• To arrange and run your trip if you book with us, including passing the necessary details to parks, hotels, camps and transport providers.
• To keep records of bookings and correspondence.
• To protect the website and our inbox from spam and misuse.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising. We do not send marketing emails unless you have asked to receive them.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not set cookies for visitors at all.

Some parts of the page are loaded from other services, which receive your IP address as part of an ordinary web request: Google Fonts (typefaces), Unsplash (some photographs), unpkg (an icon library) and Cloudflare, which protects and delivers the site. They act under their own privacy policies.

Who else sees it

• Our email provider (Spacemail): enquiries are emailed to our inbox and a confirmation is emailed to you.
• Our web host: the website and the enquiries it receives are stored on a server operated for us by our web developer.
• Trip suppliers: only if you book, and only what they need.
• Authorities: where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as we need them to answer you and to keep a record of any trip you book. You can ask us to delete an enquiry at any time. Our web server keeps short technical logs (IP address, page requested, time) for security, which are deleted automatically within about 90 days. Nightly backups of the website and its enquiries are kept for 30 days and then deleted automatically.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. We follow the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 of Tanzania, and we will honour the same requests from visitors in the UK, the European Union and elsewhere. Write to [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days.

Children

This website is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. Bookings for children are made by a parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
